Serbia Team Land In Zagreb Amidst Massive Police Presence

The Serbian football team has touched down at Zagreb’s Pleso International Aiport amidst unprecedented securityahead of tomorrow night’s World Cup qualifier against Croatia.

On the 25 kilometre stretch of road leading from the airport to the team’s Sheraton hotel there were policemen were stationed every hundred metres. A huge police presence was at Zagreb Airport also when the squad’s plane touched down at 10:45am on Thursday morning. Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic would not make any comments to the waiting press as he made his way onto the team bus.

The Serbian team wanted to hold an open training session at Maksimir stadium tonight at 18:00, but were refused by the Croatian Football Federation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs because of security risks, whilst Croatia will  hold its last training run an hour earlier, which will be open to the public. Croatian coach Igor Stimac has urged fans to bring along the flags at training today to ‘life the atmosphere’ ahead of tomorrow’s match.
