Croatian discus champion Sandra Perković has continued her dominance in the sport by winning gold today at the Birmingham Diamond League meeting.

The 27-year-old, who won her second World Championship title last Sunday at the IAAF World Championships in London, won with a throw of 67.51 metres.

Perković’s winning throw, which she threw in her 3rd attempt in the final, was more than 2 metres further than that of silver medal winner Denia Caballero from Cuba (65.24 metres). Yaime Perez, also from Cuba, won bronze with a throw of 65.11.

The win was her 36th Diamond League victory in 46 appearances. She is already assured of a place in the Diamond League final in Brussels, leading with 31 points.

Perković’s win last week at the IAAF World Championships in London means she now has 2 Olympic and 2 World titles to go with her four European titles.

She will take part next in the Hanžeković Memorial in Zagreb on 28-29 August 2017.
