Sacha Baron Cohen In Croatian Film Remake?

Hit Croatian comedy “Svecenikova djeca” (The Priest’s Children), which set box office records in Croatia when it was released early this year, has now attracted international attention, with German, Irish and French production companies interested in buying the rights to the film.

As daily newspaper Jutarnji list reports, the most interesting offer is from French production and distribution company Wild Bunch, whose film production portfolio includes Oscar-winning films ‘King’s Speech’ and ‘The Artist’. The paper reports that Wild Bunch’s American branch would be interested in filming the movie with Sacha Baron Cohen, aka Borat, in the lead role.

Svecenikova djeca, written by Mate Matisic and directed by Vinko Bresan, is a story about a young priest on a Dalmatian island who, in order to increase the birth rate in the village, begins to punch holes in condom packets. The film had the most successful opening in 22 years in Croatia.
