Rovinj first destination in Croatia to reach 4 million overnights

Rovinj

On September 24th, the popular Croatian tourist destination of Rovinj became the first place in Croatia to reach 4 million overnight stays, Jutarnji list reported.

These overnight stays were achieved with a total of 665,847 arrivals, which is 3% higher compared to 2022, as stated by the local tourist board.

The highest number of overnight stays during this period was recorded by Germans with a 35% share, Austrians with a 15% share, Italians with a 7% share, Dutch visitors, and local guests with a 5% share.

The majority of overnight stays occurred in campsites (46%), followed by private accommodations (23%), hotels (18%), and tourist resorts (10%).

With the adoption of the new Strategic Tourism Development Plan for the Rovinj destination at the end of 2022, development activities have been aimed at increasing tourist traffic during the pre and post-season periods.

Croatia's Popular Destinations Attract Record Visitors

Rovinj

This is evidenced by this year’s results, as in the first half of 2023, 1,370,235 overnight stays were achieved with 39,303 beds (+3% compared to the same period in the record-breaking year of 2022). In July and August, tourist traffic was slightly weaker compared to last year’s results, but these numbers are changing again from September, and a better post-season is expected compared to last year’s outcome. This could ultimately result in achieving record-breaking tourism results this year, as stated by the tourist board.

Currently, there are 15,081 guests in Rovinj, with the majority being tourists from Germany and Austria, as well as local guests.
