Restaurant Review: OXBO Urban Bar & Grill

By: A.S

Black Friday at the Oxbo bar & grill, Hilton’s restaurant located in Zagreb’s business district on Radnička, is an event no serious carnivore in Zagreb should miss. This sleek new restaurant introduces Black Angus beef to the Croatian gastronomic scene, showcasing it in 5 different mouth-watering steaks and one delicious burger. With a variety of tantalizing sauces and compound butters on offer, the insatiable meat lovers will, to their delight, have plenty of tasting to do before they will have found their own preferred combination.

In my case, the match made in heaven was the juicy medium rare rib-eye steak with the ambrosial black truffle butter. Although steaks do indeed form the pillar of Oxbo’s appeal, there are also plenty of other items on their well-designed menu that deserve a closer look, and our warm recommendation. Amongst them are the masterful rendition of the traditional Istrian dish Pljukanci (hand-made pasta) with air-dried prosciutto and black truffle sauce, and the delicious truffled beef tenderloin Carpaccio.

What definitely won me over at Oxbo is their immaculate service, which comes with a welcome dose of personal touch, and is well balanced with the relaxed atmosphere the restaurant inspires. After several visits to Oxbo, my only warning would be not to leave the place without trying their chocolate mud cake with vanilla sauce or the pancake with the amarena cherry compote, which will provide sweet memories that will stay with you long after you have burned those divine calories!
