Spanish giants FC Barcelona set a new record last night after drawing with Valencia 1-1 in the Spanish Cup…

The draw means that Barcelona have now gone 29 matches unbeaten, which has never been achieved before in the club’s 118-year history. Barcelona coach Luis Enrique now breaks the previous record of 28 matches held by Pep Guardiola. The last time Barcelona tasted defeat was on 3 October against Seville (1-2). From then they have gone on a run of 23 wins and 6 draws, scoring 87 goals in the process.

Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitić featured the most out of any other Barcelona player in the record-breaking streak. Rakitić played in 25 of the 29 matches. Luis Suarez was top goal scorer (30), whilst Neymar scored 19 goals and had 19 assists. Barcelona made 17,122 successful passes in the 29-game streak with Dani Alves leading the way (1,507).
