ZAGREB, 23 May 2025 – Works at Kranjčevićeva Stadium are proceeding according to plan, Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević confirmed on Thursday during a site visit alongside his deputies, Danijela Dolenec and Luka Korlaet.
Demolition of the western stand is currently underway, with completion expected within two to three weeks.
Construction began last month, and the modernised stadium is slated for completion by the end of 2026.
Mayor Tomašević expressed satisfaction at the progress and highlighted the broader significance of the project.

Once this stadium is complete, attention will shift to the long-awaited redevelopment of the Maksimir Stadium.

Coinciding with the opening of the Hanžeković Memorial athletics meet, the Mayor also announced that the proposed urban and architectural development programme for the Maksimir complex and the adjacent SRC Svetice includes plans for a brand-new athletics stadium.
This facility will meet the standards set by World Athletics, enabling the Hanžeković Memorial to have a second venue at the eastern end of the city, complementing its current home at ŠRC Mladost.
These developments signal a significant step forward in enhancing Zagreb’s sports facilities and promoting athletic excellence across the city.
