The largest observation wheel in Croatia opened in the eastern city of Osijek on Thursday.

The ‘Sky View’ observation ferris wheel at Park kralja Držislava in Osijek was opened by the city’s mayor Ivan Radić and Osijek-Baranje County head Ivan Anušić.

‘Sky View’ is 35 metres tall and weights 90 tonnes. It has 24 cabins which can each hold six people and has a total capacity of 144 people.

The ferris wheel, which arrived in Osijek from Istanbul, offers locals and visitors of Osijek the most beautiful view of the city on the Drava and its main sights – the Baroque Fortress, the pedestrian bridge, the Drava River and the Co-Cathedral.

The city’s major said at the opening that they wanted to provide locals and visitors to the city of Osijek with a tourist attraction that all major European and world capitals have.

“This is the biggest ferris wheel in Croatia, and it will stay in Osijek until the end of January, so all those interested will be able to take a ride on it,” Mayor Radić said.
