ZAGREB, 2 December 2019 – English new wave bands The Pretenders and Heaven 17 were the main attractions at Yammatovo 5 which took place in the Croatian capital on the weekend.
Lauba in Zagreb was the venue which hosted for the first time in Croatia the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band. The Pretenders, led by founder and main songwriter Chrissie Hynde, performed in Zagreb on Saturday night as part of their 40th Anniversary Greatest Hits tour.
The band, which formed in the late 70s, has experienced numerous changes with Hynde the band’s only consistent member. They opened their concert with the song Alone from their last album, followed by Gotta Wait.
They then got the crowd going with some of their classics such as Message, Kid, Down The Wrong Way, Talk Of The Town, I Go To Sleep, Back On The Chain Gang, Private Life and Brass in Pocket. They ended with a set which included Thumbelina, The Wait, Precious and Middle Of The Road.
The crowd on the night was warmed up by Heaven 17, an English new wave and synth-pop band which was formed in Sheffield in 1980.
They played some of their hits including Fascist Groove Thang, Crushed, You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling, Let Me Go and Temptation, before paying homage to David Bowie with a rendition of his hit Let’s Dance.
Before and after the concert there were sets from DJs SMS Deutsch and Dino Milic.
Tickets for the event sold out in a record 48 hours and for those who were unable to get tickets, Yammat organised a special live stream on their radio station 102.5 MHz.
