Over 1.8 million kuna awarded to Croatian communities abroad in grants

ZAGREB, 29 December 2018 – The Central State Office for Croats Abroad in Zagreb has awarded more than 1.8 million kuna to projects from Croatian communities around the world. 

On Friday, the Central State Office for Croats Abroad published the list of recipients of the grants. 

The grants relate to the 2nd public contest for financial support for projects and programmes which was published on the Central State Office for Croats Abroad website from 10 October to 9 November 2018. 

The aim of the public contest is to encourage links between Croatians abroad and Croatia, to help preserve the Croatian identity and the Croatian language in the world, and to help those who need assistance. 

The Central State Office for Croats Abroad received a total of 761 applications. 

Non-profit organisations outside of Croatia concerned with protection of the rights and interests of Croatians outside Croatia, as well individuals whose projects were aimed at the preservation and strengthening of the identity of Croatians outside of Croatia were able to apply their projects and activities in the field of culture, education, science, sports and other areas which encouraged improved links between Croatians abroad and Croatia. 

The 105 recipients, which came from all over the world such as New Zealand, Canada, the UK, Holland, Chile, Paraguay and Bosnia and Herzegovina, are in the document below.
