On This Day 30 Years Ago…Zagreb and Dražen Petrović Rule Europe

On 3 April 1985 Cibona, led at the time by Dražen Petrović, who went on to play in the NBA and became one of the world’s best players, beat Real Madrid 87-70 in Athens to win Europe’s biggest club trophy at the time. Petrović was instrumental in the victory, scoring 36 points on the night.

Cibona’s side, coached by Mirko Novosel, on that famous night 30 years ago was: Mihovil Nakić, Aco Petrović, Adnan Bečić, Zoran Čutura, Dražen Petrović, Ando Knego, Branko Vukičević, Sven Ušić, Ivo Nakić and Franjo Arapović.
