New Sljeme cable car opening on 24 February – prices announced

ZAGREB, 22 February 2022 – The new Sljeme cable car – Žičara Sljeme – which connects Zagreb with Sljeme’s peak on Medvednica mountain, will be officially opened this week. 

After a long process, the cable car finally was issued with all the necessary permits and on Wednesday this week it will be officially opened. The cable car will be open to the public from Thursday, 24 February, Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević said at a press conference today, 24sata writes. 

The new cable car is located where the original one once was and has 84 cabins, each holding up to 10 passengers. The 5 km trip from the Zagreb neighbourhood of Dolje to Sljeme peak will take around 16 minutes. The route of the new cable car will be lit up, covered by video surveillance and an audio system, while the cabins will be equipped with heated seats, lighting, wireless internet.

Ticket prices

For the first month, promotional prices for all ticket categories will be in place. 

Adults

One way: 30 kn 
Return: 50 kn

Those between 15-24 and 65+

One way: 20 kn 
Return: 30 kn

Kids under 15 and people with disabilities
FREE

After the one month promotional period, the cable car will not work for around 10 days as additional works will be done to reduce noise.

The station building at the bottom at Dolje is equipped with underground garages on two levels, with more than 200 parking spaces.
