Aiming to promote small local farmers and to introduce Croatian traditional food to visitors, Little Market and Croatian Design Superstore join forces in new project that showcases local, traditional Croatian gourmet food…

Although primarily focused to promote Croatian design, starting this September Croatian Design Superstore will offer unique gourmet story focused on “food from the source”, traditional and organically grown Croatian foodstuffs gathered under Little Market umbrella. Little Market is mobile green market popular in Zagreb. Strong attraction between Little Market and Croatian Design Superstore was created by basically the same mutual aim – with different focus – of promoting Croatian, traditional and original. This co-production only announces future joint activities.

“We do our best to make every visit to Superstore a holistic and interesting design experience in every way. Our café is ongoing platform for new designer concepts and ideas – and for exactly that reason cooperation with the Little Market seems to be natural step forward,” said Ira Payer, Croatian Design Superstore Creative Director.

For a start, Little Market will be hosted by Croatian Design Superstore on 1 October. You can combine getting your healthy groceries with local farmer’s delicacies tasting between 10 am and 4 pm. During that time visitors will enjoy the opportunity to meet small farmers from different Croatian regions and ask them anything they might want to know about their products.

Over last four years Little Market continuously creates a platform that promotes values of local and traditional food farming in interesting and innovative way by enabling direct and personal contact with small farmers. Since its beginnings, Little Market is much more than just “a market”, it became well known as meeting, socialising and tasting place, a place for healthy food, ideas and creativity exchange. So far, over 300 editions were hosted at different city locations, including co-productions with other relevant projects and events – Change of Hearts (Museum of Broken Relationships), D Day (Croatian Designers Society), Artomat (Croatian Association of Artists), Design Week (Lauba) and Art Park, among others.

Croatian Design Superstore is original concept store in Zagreb that champions Croatian design as significant segment of domestic cultural and creative industry, offers high-quality and interesting content for tourists, raises the bar and increases attractiveness of Zagreb as tourist destination by assisting its branding. Open in March 2015 in central Zagreb (Martićeva 4), Croatian Design Superstore soon became daily meeting place of local and foreign creatives and also unavoidable tourist attraction. Started as mobile pop-up concept, CDSS is now unique platform for market and cultural affirmation of Croatian design that consists of exhibition space, designer studio and café. Multifunctional designer premises host various events and programmes aimed at promoting Croatian design and designers, as well as various unconventional gatherings.
