A new border crossing between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina is set to open to traffic on 11 December 2025.
The Gornji Varoš (Croatia) – Gradiška Novi Most (Bosnia and Herzegovina) crossing will be available for both passenger and freight transport, providing a modern and efficient route that meets high Schengen standards, HAK said.
The new facility is positioned on a strategically important international corridor and is directly linked to Croatia’s A3 motorway (Zagreb – Lipovac).
This connection further strengthens transport links between northern and central Europe and the countries of southeast Europe, while also playing a key role in improving road infrastructure in eastern Croatia.
The opening is expected to significantly relieve pressure on neighbouring border crossings, particularly Stara Gradiška and Jasenovac, which have long experienced heavy traffic.
It should also ease congestion at the busy Gradiška crossing, one of the region’s most frequently used points for travellers and commercial transport.
The launch of the new crossing marks an important step forward in enhancing trade flows, improving travel efficiency, and strengthening regional cooperation between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
