Government Minister’s Right-Hand Man Arrested For Bribery In Croatia

Holding a special press conference to announce that your right-hand man has been arrested for bribery must be one of the worst type of press conferences a government Minister could make. On Friday, Croatia’s War Veteran Minister Predrag Matic had to do exactly that.

Matic told reporters that Assistant Minister Dinko Mikulic had been arrested on Friday under suspicion of taking bribes. Mikulic is accused of taking 150,000 euros in cash, and 100,000 euros worth of real estate from bribes from businesses in the eastern Croatian city of Varazdin between 2005 and 2012.
