Mikaela Shiffrin Queen Of Zagreb

Teenage US skier Mikaela Shiffrin has caused an upset by winning the Zagreb FIS World Cup Women’s Slalom race on Sljeme on Friday.

World Cup leader and favourite for the event, Slovenia’s Tina Maze, was leading after the first run, but Shiffrin produced the run of the night in her second run (1 minute 2.47 seconds) to claim overall victory by 1.19 over runner-up Frida Hansdotter.

The Zagreb VIP Snow Queen Trophy was showcased around the globe with 22 countries broadcasting it live. The men’s slalom takes places on Sunday.
