Man Sets Himself on Fire at War Veterans Protest

According to daily Novi list, the war veteran, who was a member of the 150. Brigade, arrived at the protest in front of the War Veterans’ Ministry in Zagreb by taxi. The man then poured petrol all over himself before setting himself on fire to the shock of bystanders. The reportedly screamed ‘don’t give up’, and ‘everything for Croatia’ before he lost consciousness. He was rushed to hospital but managed to survive with serious burns.

The group of war veterans, many with 100% disabilities, have been protesting about benefits and regulations concerning their status for the last eight days in front of the Ministry. (pic: illustration)
