ZAGREB, Nov 30 (Hina) – The Lions Club Zrinjevac presented earlier this week a humanitarian campaign called Lions Umbrellas of Unity, Umbrellas of Kindness to raise funds for the Zagreb children’s hospital and the Vinko Bek Centre for the Education of Blind and Vision Impaired Persons.

Members of the women’s club will paint 350 umbrellas which will be given to anyone who donates HRK 250. More than 100 professional and amateur artists will help paint the umbrellas.

“Every Lions umbrella of unity, the umbrella of kindness is unique, hand-painted, and the motives are imaginative and numerous,” a press release said.

The campaign lasts until January 25 and represents a continuation of the club’s humanitarian activity. In 22 years, it has organised numerous activities to help individuals and organisations in need, donating HRK 4 million.

For the children’s hospital, the plan is to donate two enteral feeding pumps which will enable patients with feeding problems to spend time between two chemotherapy treatments at home, as well as two special chemotherapy chairs so that children can receive treatments in a day hospital, not just on the ward.

For the Vinko Bek Centre, the plan is to buy a Zoomax Snow 12 portable electronic video magnifier which enables a person with low vision to read, write and look at objects more easily and even perform full-page content scanning with OCR text-to-speech.

Anyone willing to donate can do so on the Lions club’s website, where they can choose a painted umbrella.
