Kiwi-Croatian Up for 4 Grammy Music Awards

Yelich-O’Connor, who has Croatian roots on her mother’s side, has enjoyed a remarkable rise to fame this year thanks to her smash hit ‘Royals’, and has now capped it off with nominations for Record of the Year, Best Solo Performance, Best Pop Album and Song of the Year. Lorde’s hit Royals, which carries a message criticizing the materialism of the pop music scene, spent nine weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart this year. The teenage Kiwi-Croatian also performed a live version of Royals at the Grammy nominations telecast on Friday. Ella will find out on 26 January if she can pick up a prestigious Grammy award.
