Judo In Croatian School Curriculum

The sport of Judo will officially be introduced into the curriculum at 100 primary schools in Croatia from the start of the new school year this September, reports daily Novi list.

The project titled “Judo in schools”, which is already being run in such countries as Japan, France and Holland, will be presented for the first time at a meeting to primary school heads in the town of Vodice on the Croatian coast.

Where the project is currently in place there have been reports of excellent results, as the sport is very effective in the prevention of school yard bullying and also instills some fundamental health and personal development habits such as tolerance and self-control.

“We want “Judo in schools” to be implemented in all 600 Croatian primary schools which have a sports hall and also even include secondary school kids,” said Sanda Corak, President of the Croatian Judo Federation.
