Nobody covered more distance at the 2018 World Cup than Croatian international Ivan Perisic.

Now that the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where Croatia were runners-up, has finished, FIFA has published a number of statistics from the tournament. Whilst Luka Modric was named best player of the tournament, another Croatian has topped another department.

Left-winger Perisic was no.1 out of all the players at the World Cup for running the most kilometres – a total of 72.5, nearly two full marathons.

Perisic also shared second place with Coutinho from Brazil for the number of shots at goal (22). Neymar from Brazil was no.1 with 27 shots.

Perisic and his Inter Milan teammate Marcelo Brozovic also made sure that Inter Milan has now had at least one player in the World Cup for the past 40 years. Only Bayern Munich has also achieved that feat.
