Istria Named Best Olive Oil Region in the World

The Croatian region of Istria has for the second year running been named the best olive oil region in the world by leading guide Flos Olei.

Flos Olei, which is the first international extra virgin olive oil guide, have this year included 61 Istrian olive oils in their latest 2017 guide.

That number is the most out of all the nations featured in the Flos Olei 2017. The guide, which comes in Italian and English editions, presents the best 500 olive oils from 50 countries in 5 continents based on a panel of expert tasters.

The detailed cartography includes both the best olive areas and the ones protected by names of origin.

Istria, which had the highest number of olive oils in the 2016 guide (51), is once again the region with the most in the guide and named the best olive region.

Some of the Istrian olive oils to make the Flos Olei guide included Olea, Belci, Ipša, Stancija Meneghetti, Zigante, Tonin, Basiaco and Chiavalon.
