International screening tour of film ‘General’ starting in Canada  

‘General’ hit cinemas in Croatia in the summer

22 October 2019 – The much-anticipated film about the life of retired Croatian General Ante Gotovina begins its exclusive international screening tour in Canada on Tuesday. 

The film, which was released in Croatia in August, is directed by Antun Vrdoljak and stars Goran Višnjić as Ante Gotovina. 

“The Croatian Project is thrilled to announce we have been given the exclusive rights to internationally showcase Croatia’s biggest ever budgeted movie General. The first leg of the international tour commences in Canada on Tuesday,” the organisers said. 

The first screening will take place on 22 October in Norval.

Canada screening dates: 

22 October – Croatian Centre – Norval
23 October – Holy Trinity Croatian Catholic Church – Oakville 
24 October – Croatian Sports and Community Centre – Hamilton
27 October – Croatian-Canadian National Sports Centre Zagreb – London
27 October – St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Hall – Windsor
10 November – St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Church – Ottawa 

*More dates in Canada to be announced. 

Viewings in Norval, Oakville and Hamilton will be accompanied with a special performance by the Croatian-singing Klapa Samoana from New Zealand. 

Dates for the Australian leg of the tour will be announced shortly by The Croatian Project. 

The film also stars actors Boris Svrtan, Tarik Filipović, Rene Bitorajac, Goran Navojec and Nataša Janjić. Around 1,000 extras were involved in filming, which took place at 10 locations around Croatia, including Sveti Rok in the Lika-Senj County, Zadar, Imotski, Pirovac, and Pag, as well as in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
