HRT purchase rights to broadcast Euro 2020

(HNS)

ZAGREB, 28 November 2019 – State broadcaster Croatian radiotevision (HRT) has announced on Thursday that it has managed to secure the rights to broadcast Euro 2020.

“It is with great pleasure that we announce that after months of negotiations, we have successfully managed to secure the rights for the 2020 European Championship,” HRT said.

HRT had lost the rights to broadcast Croatian national team football matches last year when Nova TV confirmed that it would exclusively broadcast all matches for the next four years.

“Nova TV will broadcast live all EURO 2020 qualifying, UEFA Nations League,  EURO 2020, and all 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches,” Nova TV said in a statement last year.

Today’s news means HRT will broadcast all 51 matches at Euro 2020, including all of Croatia’s matches. Euro 2020 will take place from 12 June – 12 July 2020 in 12 different countries for the first time.

HRT will start off their Euro 2020 coverage on Saturday, 30 November (6 pm) when the draw is made for the tournament in Bucharest.

“HRT has shown numerous times so far that it is able to accomplish the largest and most complex projects. We are also ready to broadcast all the matches to our viewers, listeners and readers in the most thorough way, and we will also prepare a studio show that will provide accompanying news and current affairs from the field, with special emphasis on the Croatian football team. This, after the magnificent success in Russia, continues HRT’s continuity in following the Croatian football team in the biggest competitions, as apart from the newly secured rights for Euro 2020, the rights for the Qatar 2022 World Cup have already been redeemed.”
