Half of Split Turn Up For Game Of Thrones Extras Casting

There were young, old, tall, short, big and skinny as hundreds of locals from the Dalmatian city of Split formed massive queues outside the Best Western Art Hotel as casting for extras for the hit HBO series Game of Thrones started on Tuesday.

Queues literally formed out onto the roads in front of the hotel as Split locals looked to get one of the 400 extra spots up for grabs for when filming begins in the city later this year. Game of Thrones, which has filmed in Dubrovnik for the past two seasons, will for the first time shoot in Split and the interest has been immense. Casting took place from 10am-1pm before resuming from 3pm-7pm on Tuesday. Embassy Films announced on their Facebook page that women would need to turn up without any make-up on. Women between 15 and 60 years of age, and men between 18 and 70 years of age were invited to turn up to Tuesday’s casting. Those successfully selected will have to be available for filming from 20 September to 10 October.
