Hajduk Split beats Dortmund to reach youth Champions League semi-final

Croatian club Hajduk Split has beaten German’s Borussia Dortmund to reach the semi-final of the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday.

A large contingent of Hajduk Split fans made the trip to Signal Iduna Park and in the 72nd minute they were on their feet when Hajduk opened the scoring.

A pinpoint cross from Roko Brajković from the right found the head of Mate Antunović and his powerful header would find its way into the top corner to make it 1-0.

The lead did not last too long when Dortmund was awarded a penalty just moments later. Julian Rijkhoff made no mistake from the spot, sending Hajduk keeper Borna Buljan the wrong way.

Hajduk almost snatched the game in added time but a deflected cross would hit the the bar and bounce clear.

With the scores locked at 1-1 the game would be decided on penalties. Buljan would save Dortmund’s 9th penalty which would be enough to give Hajduk victory 10-9.

Hajduk, who beat Manchester City in the round of 16, will now face AC Milan in the semi-finals. That match will take place on 21 April in Nyon.
