ZAGREB, 22 February, 2023 – Successful Croatian maths app Photomath is set to be acquired by Google.

Founded by Damir Sabol, Photomath is a smart camera calculator which lets users simply point the phone’s cameras at a mathematical formula – with the answer appearing almost immediately on screen.

The app has been a huge hit since its release four years ago and is now set to be acquired by Google. A Google spokesmen confirmed that they entered into an agreement to acquire Photomath in May 2022.

The acquisition is dependent on a regulatory review from the EU antitrust regulators.

“A March 28 deadline for their decision on Alphabet (GOOGL.O) unit Google’s acquisition of Croatian maths app Photomath, according to a European Commission filing on Wednesday,” Reuters reported today.

The app, which is also an educational tool as it shows step by step solutions, has won a number of awards and even topped App Store downloads after it was released.
