French Open: Croatians to meet in mixed doubles final

PARIS, 6 June 2019 – Croatia is guaranteed to have a winner at the French Open after the mixed doubles semifinals took place at Roland Garros on Thursday. 

Mate Pavić will face his Croatian Davis Cup teammate Ivan Dodig in the final of the mixed doubles on Friday.

Pavić, playing with long-time partner, Gabriela Dabrowski, came from a set down to beat Nadiia Kichenok from Ukraine and Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi 6-7, 6-1, 10-8 to reach the final. 

Pavić and Canadian Dabrowski, who won the 2018 Australian Open together will face Dodig and Latisha Chan after they had a more comfortable win today.

The Croatian/Taiwanese pairing were too good for Nicole Melichar and Bruno Soares, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Dodig and Chan are the defending champions and on Friday they will be going for their second straight title.
