The most successful Croatian comic opera and the only Croatian opera with a presence in the theatres abroad will be the first Croatian opera to be live streamed this month.

’Ero s onoga svijeta’ (Ero the Joker) by Jakov Gotovac will be streamed online and available all over the world on 6 November.

Directed by Krešimir Dolenčić, ‘Ero s onoga svijeta’ at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb (HNK) will be the first Croatian opera live streamed.

HNK is one of 30 European theatres part of the Opera Vision project which secures finance to support streaming platforms. The opera will be live streamed on the Opera Vision’s official YouTube channel on 6 November 2018.

To test his sweetheart’s love, a young trickster, Ero, disguises himself as a pauper. But convincing her parents is a trickier challenge.

Part of tHNK’s repertoire since its premiere in 1935, Jakov Gotovac’s comic opera is an ode to a rural way of life. It culminates in a frenzied tempo with a vigorous ballet – a celebration of Dalmatian music and dance.

Soloists Siniša Štork, Dubravka Šeparović,  Valentina Fijačko Kobić, Stjepan Franetović, Ljubomir Puškarić, Ana Zebić Kostel, Neven Mrzlečki and HNK Zagreb orchestra will perform in the opera under maestro Josip Šego.

The opera on 6 November will be streamed HERE
