Europe’s Beekeepers Gather in Croatia for International Fair

More than 130 producers from Finland, Greece, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia are exhibiting their products this weekend at the popular fair.

There are approximately 11,000 beekeepers in Croatia, owning over 661,000 hives, and producing 8,000 tonnes of honey annually from 16 different species of honey plants (acacia, lime, sage, rapeseed, chestnut, sunflower, lavender and meadow). Most beekeepers in Croatia are hobbyists, with just 2 percent doing it professionally.
