Dubrovnik FestiWine Gala

Next week, Dubrovnik will host of an exciting food and wine week, brimming with attractive events and experiences from choosing the wines that best complement the highly acclaimed Ston oysters, the wine competition selected by the renowned Dubrovnik FestiWine Trophy jury, to the popular wine exhibition and the tours of nearby wineries.

The event that has always attracted a great number of wine and fine cuisine lovers is the Dubrovnik FestiWine Gala with a noble cause of supporting young chefs and culinary talents. The gala event will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at 8 p.m. at the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel.

Traditionally, all proceeds from the Gala are directed towards scholarships for young culinary talents. ‘Our goal is to motivate and encourage young talents who have been investing in their knowledge and education for years. In this way, we provide them with an opportunity, at the beginning of their culinary wine journey, to learn new skills from the leading experts’, said Nikola Dobroslavić, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County prefect. The Dubrovnik-Neretva County has initiated the Festival and organised it for the fourth time in a row.

This top-notch wine and fine food spectacle continues to welcome some of the finest regional chefs. After the renowned chefs Zdravko Tomšić and Tomaž Kavčič, Dubrovnik FestiWine is excited to continue the tradition by welcoming another famous chef with remarkable experience, Fabricio Vežnaver, chef and owner of the restaurant Pergola in Savudrija.

Located in the small Istrian village of Zambratija, the Pergola restaurant delights its visitors with unparalleled flavours and a unique ambiance. It has been singled out by numerous wine and gastronomy experts and food writers alike as one of the best Croatian restaurants. Under the guidance of chef Vežnaver, the Pergola restaurant has joined the prestigious association Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe (JRE).

Chef Vežnaver will couple his creative and culinary talent with that of Petar Obad, the chef of Adriatic Luxury Hotels. Together they will create a dynamic menu inspired by top wines, the winners of the last year’s Dubrovnik FestiWine Trophy competition. In creating inventive and inspiring delicacies, the renowned chefs will be joined by last year’s scholarship winners, the young and ambitious culinary talents Đuro Kravić and Tihomir Antunović.

This unique gala evening will be marked by the chefs’ signature dishes and the award winning wines by the following prominent wine producers:
