Domino’s Pizza to donate part of sales to children’s hospital in Zagreb

Domino’s Zagreb

ZAGREB, 17 September 2020 – Domino’s Pizza, which was founded in 1960 and is the world leader in pizza delivery with over 17,000 stores in more than 90 countries, opened its first store in Croatia on Ulica kneza Mislava 1 in Zagreb in July 2020.

“We’ve been thrilled by the warm welcome of the locals here in Zagreb and have been overwhelmed by the positive customer comments we have received on our products and service,” says Nils Gornall, director of Domino’s Pizza Croatia.

“We are so excited to have brought this global brand to Croatia and would typically celebrate this with a big welcome party at our store” adds Mihael Sviben, who runs the local Domino’s market together with Nils.

Considering the impact that Covid-19, the big earthquake, and the heavy rain, which caused flooding in many places in Zagreb, have, the team has decided to take a different approach as they establish the brand in Croatia.

“Being the global number one pizza delivery company is not just about delivering pizzas. Giving back to the community and lending a helping hand where we can, is at the core of our beliefs. We have therefore decided to donate 5 kuna for every pizza sold between 19-26 September to the children’s hospital Klaićeva here in Zagreb”, says Nils.

“Our hospital suffered damage from the earthquake and was later also flooded by the heavy rain. A large part of our buildings and equipment has been destroyed but despite everything, we strive to provide superior health care for our little patients. In such circumstances, any help is of great importance to us, and on behalf of the employees and on my own I would like to thank Domino ́s Pizza for their big heart and social sensitivity”, says prof. dr. sc. Goran Roić, dr. med., director of the hospital.

The children ́s hospital Klaićeva performs more than a million medical procedures on children and adolescents each year. It operates on a philosophy of treating the child, not treating the disease so the well-being of the child is always the highest priority. The hospital covers most pediatric specialties and strives to encompass the ethos of a ́Child Friendly Hospital ́ and a ́Smile for every child ́.

“My team and I are extremely excited about this partnership and we hope for a great donation to the hospital. Eating pizza for charity – can it be any better?!”, concludes Nils Gornall.
