Dinamo Zagreb sign PSV Eindhoven U23 captain Justin de Haas

ZAGREB, 16 February 2021 – Justin de Haas, the former captain of the youth team at Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, has joined Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb.

The 21-year-old 194 cm tall defender will initially join Dinamo’s second team.

“He will strengthen the defensive line of the second team under the leadership of coach Ivan Prelec. It can be seen in his football profile that he uses his left foot better, and although he is primarily a stopper, he often knew how to jump into the role of left back,” the club said in a statement.

Born in the Amsterdam suburb of Zaanstad, de Haas spent four years at the AZ Alkmaar academy before moving to PSV as a teenager in the summer of 2019.

In his first season he became the captain of the U-23 team. He also trained with the first team. He was on the bench last autumn in a UEFA Europa League match but did not make an official appearance for the first team.

He played for the Dutch national team in the U-16 to U-18 categories.

“When I heard that Dinamo wanted to bring me in, I was surprised and very happy because I know very well that it has a great football academy. I know that they work great with young players here and that many have reached the biggest clubs in the world through Dinamo. My favourite position? Wherever the coach needs me,” said de Haas.
