ZAGREB, 28 December 2019 – Some impressive recognition for Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb from UEFA after they were ranked among the top ten European Cup clubs of the decade.
This decade, Dinamo Zagreb competed in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League five times and took part in qualifying nine times out of ten, which has helped them make the top ten amongst giant clubs in Europe like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus.
The European Cup rankings for this decade were based on Champions League and qualifying results over the past ten years. Three points were awarded for a win and one for a draw.
Dinamo Zagreb played 80 matches and accumulated 120 points, ranking them 10th in Europe for the decade. Real Madrid were ranked no.1 with 255 points, followed by Bayern Munich (244 points) and Barcelona (243 points).
Dinamo Zagreb, who have one of the best youth academies in the world, had their best performance in the group stages of the Champions League this season and almost advanced through to the Round of 16.
