After swimming across False Bay and Cape Point, Croatian long distance swimmer Dina Levačić has achieved another success in South Africa by swimming across Robben Island.

Dina successfully covered the distance from Robben Island to Bloubergstrand Beach, a stretch of 7.4 km.

The conditions were much more favourable than expected, considering that the sea temperature the day before averaged around 12°C.

“When I came to South Africa, I really didn’t expect to manage all three swims, given the quite unstable weather conditions, especially the wind. But I’m glad I got the chance to swim and successfully complete all three swims. These last two, Cape Point and Robben Island, although somewhat shorter, are special swims with a unique story and history behind them, and they will stay with me for a long time,” said Dina after the swim, adding.

“Yesterday, the sea temperature at Robben Island was between 11 and 12 degrees, and I was a bit anxious from yesterday until today about how it would look, but by some miracle today, the temperature was around 15 degrees, which is quite warm when you mentally prepare for 11. Everything went great, I’m slowly packing up and heading home.”

Upon her return to Croatia, Dina will embark on another ambitious project titled “104 Dalmatians.” Her goal is to swim around 104 officially registered islands, islets, and rocks across the four Dalmatian counties from May to October.
