David Byrne, the American singer-songwriter and former frontman of the pioneering Talking Heads, is set to return to Croatia next summer.

He will perform for the first time at Pula Arena on 28 June 2026, in a concert organised by Mars Koncerti.

The announcement follows the release of Byrne’s widely praised new album Who Is the Sky?, which has already launched a major world tour.

A full series of new 2026 dates has now been confirmed, including the long-awaited Pula show.

The tour features a 13-member ensemble of musicians, singers and dancers, many of whom were part of Byrne’s celebrated American Utopia production, all performing in constant motion throughout the set.

Although most recognised for his revolutionary era with Talking Heads, Byrne has also built a rich and adventurous solo career spanning world music, filmmaking, theatrical performance and innovative collaborations.

Since the band’s split in 1991, he has released numerous solo projects, staged film and theatre works, and founded the influential label Luaka Bop, which helped introduce groundbreaking South American and African artists to Western audiences.

Over the course of his remarkable career, Byrne has collected an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a Grammy and a special Tony Award, and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The upcoming concert in Pula will mark Byrne’s fourth visit to Croatia, counting three previous solo shows and Talking Heads’ appearance in 1982.

Last month, Byrne released a new single, “T Shirt”, from Who Is the Sky?. Co-produced with longtime collaborator Brian Eno, the track blends classic electro-pop with Byrne’s trademark mix of wry humour and candid political observation.

Meanwhile, Byrne’s recent Tiny Desk performance quickly went viral, with many calling it one of the most striking editions of the series, largely thanks to the sight of the full 13-piece band squeezing into the famously small space for an energetic, tightly choreographed set.
