Cruise ship ‘Carnival Breeze’ with 93 Croatian seafarers sails into Dubrovnik

ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) – The “Carnival Breeze” cruise ship owned by the British-American owned Carnival Cruise Lines company, which is currently carrying 93 Croatian seafarers being repatriated from abroad, sailed into Dubrovnik’s Gruz Port on Tuesday.

The ship with a capacity of 3,700 passengers, in addition to its crew, is also transporting seafarers from Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Macedonia, Serbia, Italy, Belarus and Bulgaria in the process of repatriation. Foreigners will travel on further to their home countries on charter flights or buses in accordance with epidemiological instructions.

The Interior Ministry will conduct the formalities of inspecting each of their documents.

The Carnival Breeze arrived in Dubrovnik after its course was changed because ships are not berthing in Italy due to the coronavirus. Another cruise ship, the Carnival Magic arrived in Dubrovnik on May 20 with 760 repatriated seafarers.

As a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic, seafarers around the world have been faced with problems for months with shifts and returning home.

An estimated eight thousand Croatian seafarers are currently stuck at sea around the world.
