ZAGREB, 16 February 2021 (Hina) – Croatia’s best skier Filip Zubčić won the silver medal in the parallel giant slalom in the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in the Italian ski resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo on Tuesday.

This is Zubčić’s first race in the Cortina championships and he immediately grabbed a medal coming second to Frenchman Mathieu Faivre by just 0.48 seconds.

The bronze medal went to Switzerland’s Loic Meillard who finished ahead of Germany’s Alexander Schmid.

This is the first medal for Croatia’s skiing in the world championships since Ivica Kostelić won the silver medal in Schladming in 2013 and Croatia’s tenth overall.
