Croatia’s Agrokor Acquires Slovenian Giants Mercator

Croatia’s largest privately owned company has just got larger. Agrokor, owned by Croatian tycoon Ivica Todoric, has just acquired a 53% share of Slovenian supermarket giants Mercator on Friday.
The acquisition means that Agrokor’s empire, which also has Croatia’s largest supermarket chain Konzum in it, will grow to a 60,000 strong work force with annual revenues of close to 1 billion euros. Shares in Mercator soared on Friday as news of the sale broke, jumping more than 13% on Friday.
