Croatian president to make first State Visit to Canada since independence in May

ZAGREB, 5 May, 2019 – The President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović will make an official State Visit to Canada this month. 

President Grabar-Kitarović will be in Canada on the State Visit from 12 to 17 May 2019 at the invitation of the Governor General of Canada Julie Payette. 

During the visit the President of the Republic will hold meetings with the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, leaders and members of the Canadian Parliament, businesspeople and the Croatian communities of Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton and Calgary. 

This is the first State Visit to Canada since the Republic of Croatia achieved independence.

It is estimated that over 200,000 Croatians and their descendants live in Canada today. Most are located around Toronto, Mississauga, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary.
