Croatian International Mateo Kovačić (24) will move to English Premier League Club Chelsea on loan, the London-based club confirmed on Wednesday.
The Real Madrid midfielder was limited to just 10 appearances last season in La Liga as he played second fiddle to the likes of Casemiro, Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos.
Today Chelsea FC announced that Kovačić will move to Stanford Bridge on a one-year loan deal.
Kovačić had been offered as part of a £35m deal to sign Thibaut Courtois, Sky Sports reports.
Kovačić, who played 183 minutes for Croatia at the 2018 World Cup, will spend one season on loan with Chelsea not having the right to purchase him after the loan deal is over.
The deal is subject to Courtois agreeing terms and passing a medical, Chelsea FC said.
