A specialised business workshop “Full of well being” on the topic of health tourism was held in the Croatian pavilion last night as part of the World Exhibition EXPO 2020 Dubai. 

The workshop was organised by the Croatian Tourist Board, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and with the support of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of”Health & Wellness” week. 

Those who attended were greeted by the director of the Croatian Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić, the state secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina and the president of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce Luka Burilović.

“Health tourism is a product that has a strong resource base and rich tradition in Croatia, and this specialised business workshop was a unique opportunity to further strengthen the demand for health tourism services. Namely, Croatian business entities presented their offer of health tourism, exchanged experiences and agreed on future cooperation with almost 50 partners from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Russia and India. In addition to new business cooperation and projects, we expect that our country’s participation in the EXPO in Dubai will have a positive impact on the entire Croatian economy,”said Croatian Tourist Board Director Kristjan Staničić, adding that the offer of health tourism in global terms is growing.

The workshop was attended by about 15 of the most important Croatian representatives of health tourism providers, top experts in various fields of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and spa and wellness industry. Holders of international certificates, winners of prestigious awards and leading Croatian entities in the implementation of certain medical procedures presented their offer.

“Croatian business entities in the segment of health tourism at the world’s largest exhibition EXPO 2020 in Dubai presented their services to potential partners and colleagues from the international environment and also presented the benefits that Croatia offers tourists when it comes to health and wellness tourism, and more importantly, opened a path to new investments in year-round tourism in Croatia. Health tourism is one of the fastest growing forms of tourism in the world and one of the leading motives for tourist travel in the last decade. The offer of health tourism in Croatia today includes a complex set of providers of wellness, spa and medical tourism. Given all the predispositions, but also the funds available, in the period ahead we want to further strengthen health tourism, stronger branding and position Croatia as a health destination, said state secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina.

After the workshop and the end of the formalities, the participants had the opportunity for additional informal socialising and conversations in the exhibition part of the Croatian pavilion where they got acquainted with the beauties of Croatia, saw the first Croatian serial electric hypercar, the Rimac Nevera and Experience tunnel representing great Croatian minds and athletes. They also got acquainted with the offer of Croatian health tourism through promotional films of wellness, medical and health tourism.

The World Exhibition EXPO 2020 Dubai is one of the largest global, non-commercial events of economic and cultural significance. 192 countries are taking part in the exhibition, which is a unique opportunity for Croatia to present the country’s overall offer to a multimillion-dollar audience, including numerous businessmen, investors, international institutions, the diplomatic corps and others. During the exhibition, which will be open until March 31 this year, there will be numerous business meetings, events, diplomatic meetings, exhibitions and more.
