Croatian First Division Ahead of Spain’s Primera and English Premier League for…

croatia1There are not many statistics where the Croatian football first division finds itself ahead of the Spanish Primera or the English Premier League, but there is one…and no, it is not for crowd attendances…

If football leagues are measured by the amount of goals scored then the Croatian first division is one of the most attractive leagues in Europe. With an average of 2.86 goals per game, the Croatian first division has the 3rd most goals per game out of the 25 best leagues in Europe. Poor defence? Excellent strikers? Whatever the reason, the Croatian first division has more goals than the Spanish league, which boasts goal-getters of the calibre of Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo, and Suarez, and the English Premier League which has some of world’s top marksmen in Wayne Rooney, Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero.

Average Goals per Game in Europe’s Top 25 Leagues:

1. Eredivisie (Holland) 3.06
2. Bundesliga (Austria) 2.93
3. Prva HNL (Croatia) 2.86
4. Bundesliga (Germany) 2.80
5. Pro League (Belgium) 2.78
12. Primera (Spain) 2.57
13. Serie A (Italy) 2.56
14. Premiership (England) 2.55
21. Ligue 1 (France) 2.41
