Croatia’s iconic food seasoning, Vegeta, has been recognised as a Top-Marke 2025 in Germany, one of the most respected awards for consumer brands in the country.

The award is given by Lebensmittel Zeitung, a leading German portal specialising in the food industry.

Out of more than 5,000 brands analysed, Vegeta secured the top position in the spice category, confirming its strength in one of Europe’s most competitive markets.

The Top-Marke status is based on independent consumer research carried out by YouGov CP Germany GmbH, a company that specialises in online market research and data analysis.

The study covered 30,000 German households and assessed measurable indicators such as growth in customer base, market share increase and consistent market presence.

Brands that earn the Top-Marke title must show outstanding sales performance and enjoy a high level of consumer loyalty.

Vegeta’s recognition highlights its relevance and strong position in the German market.

“This kind of recognition is especially valuable because it comes directly from the market and consumers,” said Krunoslav Bešvir, Podravka’s Executive Director for Business Programmes.

“Vegeta is a strong brand with a rich heritage and global potential. These results in Germany show that our efforts are being recognised. We are not stopping here. The path ahead is challenging, and we will continue to develop Vegeta in line with the expectations of modern consumers around the world.”

The award comes as Vegeta marks over 65 years since its invention in 1959. The original seasoning blend was developed by a team at Podravka’s research lab, led by Professor Zlata Bartl.

The famous mixture combines salt, spices, flavour enhancers and dried vegetables, and has become a staple in kitchens across more than 60 countries.
