Croatia has cleaned up in the water polo section at the FINA World Aquatics Gala held in Sanya, China.

The gala, the first of its kind in China, awarded the best in swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, water polo, and other aquatic sports this year.

Croatia has been named the Best Water Polo Team in World for 2017, whilst coach Ivica Turak was named the Best Coach in the World for 2017.

Croatia won the World Cup this year in Hungary when they beat the hosts 8-6 in July this year.

“This is a big honour for me personally and for Croatian water polo. It is huge recognition. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the players, my support staff, and all of the Water Polo Federation for the support which without I would be where I am today. I hope to continue and in future competitions bring more gold medals to Croatia,” Turak said.
