Croatia has once again captured the hearts of British travellers, taking home six awards at the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, one of the UK’s most respected travel industry accolades.
The 24th annual ceremony took place on Wednesday evening at London’s iconic National Gallery, where the best global destinations were recognised based on the votes of more than four million Wanderlust readers.
Croatia was voted the second most desirable country in Europe, confirming its continued popularity among British holidaymakers. The country’s islands also ranked impressively, taking fourth place in the category of Europe’s most desirable islands.
Stealing the spotlight, Dubrovnik received two major honours, being named the second most desirable European city and receiving a Special Award for Sustainable Tourism, recognising its efforts in promoting responsible travel.
In addition, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Istria regions were ranked sixth and seventh respectively in the list of Europe’s most desirable regions, underlining Croatia’s rich diversity, natural beauty, and lasting appeal from coast to countryside.
