Croatia to play Turkey in Osijek

ZAGREB, 12 February 2020 – Croatia will face Turkey in the eastern Croatian city of Osijek in the build up to Euro 2020, the Croatian Football Federation confirmed on Wednesday. 

Croatia will play Turkey at Gradski vrt stadium in Osijek on 1 June, which will be the first of two friendlies Zlatko Dalić’s team will play in June before they depart for Euro. 

Turkey are currently ranked 29th in the world and the match will mark the 10th time the two nations have met. There have been some memorable matches between Croatia and Turkey over the last 25 years, most notably in 1996 when Goran Vlaović scored a late goal to give Croatia their first win at a major tournament. 

At Euro 2008, Turkey would knock Croatia out in the quarterfinals after a penalty shootout. At Euro 2016, a Luka Modrić volley gave Croatia a 1-0 win.  

Details about tickets for the match will be announced at a later date.
