Croatia opens the tournament against Brazil on 12 June, and will prepare with a friendly in Brazil against Australia.  New Croatian FA President Davor Šuker may well be a superstitious man, before the 1998 World Cup in France, where Croatia finished in 3rd place and Šuker himself was the tournament’s Golden Boot, Croatia played Australia in a warm-up match. On that occasion Croatia won 7-0. The last time the two sides met was in Germany at the 2006 World Cup, when they played out a 2-2 draw.
