MADRID, 24 November 2019 – Croatia will play either Pakistan or India for a place in the 2020 Davis Cup Finals which will be held again in Madrid in November.

The draw for the 2020 Davis Cup Finals by Rakuten Qualifiers took place in Madrid this afternoon with Croatia one of the 12 seeded nations.

Croatia will play the winner of the Pakistan v India tie which will be played on 29-30 November. Croatia will have home advantage for the match.

The Qualifiers will be played on March 6-7 2020 with the winning teams in the Qualifiers booking their place in next year’s Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals.

Croatia will be heavy favourites for the tie which will be played across four singles rubbers and one doubles rubber. All matches will be the best of three sets with tie-breakers to be played at 6-6 in all sets.

Croatia was forced into the Qualifiers after finishing bottom of their group at this year’s Davis Cup Finals which end today in Madrid. Croatia, who were without Marin Cilic, and also for one match Borna Coric, went down 3-0 to both Russia and hosts Spain.

Croatia is also in the process of selecting a new coach. Former players Goran Ivanisevic and Ivan Ljubicic are reportedly front-runners for the job.
