Croatia reaches 2022 European Women's Handball Championship

Croatia has secured qualification for the 2022 European Women’s Handball Championship after beating the Czech Republic today in Poreč.

Today’s 33-30 (13-14) win and the win against Ukraine during the week means Nenad Šoštarić’s team will qualify for the European Championship behind France from Group 4.

Standouts today included goalkeeper Ivana Kapitanović, who made 20 saves, whilst Valentina Blažević scored 11 goals, Dejana Milosavljević eight, and Ćamila Mičijević five.

Iveta Koresova was the best for the Czechs, scoring nine goals.

The 2022 European Women’s Handball Championship will be held in Slovenia, North Macedonia and Montenegro from 4 to 20 November 2022. 

Croatia has played in 11 European Championships. Their best performance was at the last one in 2020 when they won the bronze medal.
